01Who we are

Gistlify is operated by Gistlify Technologies Ltd, registered in Lagos, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the information described on this page.

02What we collect

We collect the minimum needed to turn a voice note into a summary and send it back to you.

• Your WhatsApp phone number. It is how we know where to send the reply. It is our only account identifier — there is no email, password or profile.
• The audio files you forward to us, for as long as it takes to transcribe them.
• The resulting transcript and summary, stored in your history so you can search it later.
• Basic delivery metadata: when a note arrived, how long it was, whether processing succeeded, and which language was detected. We use this to fix failures and to bill the paid tier.

03What we do not collect

We do not read, receive or have any access to your WhatsApp conversations. We only ever see a message you have deliberately forwarded to the Gistlify number.

We do not collect your contacts, your location, your device identifiers or your address book. We do not use advertising trackers, and this website sets no analytics or marketing cookies.

We never contact the person who sent you the voice note, and we never tell anyone that you used Gistlify on their message.

04What happens to the audio

The audio file is transcribed and then deleted. In normal operation this happens within a minute of you sending it; our hard ceiling is 24 hours, which exists only so a failed job can be retried.

Audio is encrypted while it is stored and while it moves between our services. It is never used to train any speech model, ours or anybody else's.

05How long we keep the text

Transcripts and summaries stay in your history until you delete them, because being able to search back through them is a feature people ask for.

You can wipe everything at any time by sending DELETE ALL to the Gistlify number. That removes your transcripts, your summaries and your account record within 30 days, including from backups. It cannot be undone.

If you stop using Gistlify entirely, we delete an inactive account and its contents after 18 months.

06Who else sees it

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Ever.

We use a small number of processors to run the service — cloud hosting, a speech-to-text provider, a summarisation model provider and a payments provider. They are contractually bound to process data only on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes, including model training.

We will disclose data if a Nigerian court or a lawful order compels us to. Where the law permits it, we will tell you first.

07Where your data lives

Account records and transcripts are stored in-region. Some processing may briefly occur outside Nigeria; where it does, it is covered by standard contractual clauses and the safeguards required under the Nigeria Data Protection Act.

08Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the NDPR you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or hand it to you in a portable format. You can also object to processing or withdraw consent, which in practice means you stop forwarding notes and send DELETE ALL.

Message the Gistlify number or email hello@gistlify.com. We respond within 30 days, free of charge. If we get it wrong, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

09Children

Gistlify is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly keep data from a child. If you believe a child is using the service, tell us and we will remove the account.

10Changes

If we change anything material on this page, we will message you on WhatsApp before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
